
How to Make Crispy French Fries
Forget fast food! These homemade French fries are perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.
Seasoned just right for an irresistible snack or side dish.
Ingredients:
- 4 large russet potatoes
- 2 quarts vegetable oil for frying
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon paprika (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
Instructions:
- Wash and peel the potatoes, then cut them into 1/4-inch sticks.
- Soak the cut potatoes in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.
- Drain and pat the potatoes completely dry with paper towels.
- Heat the oil in a deep fryer or heavy pot to 325°F (160°C).
- Fry the potatoes in batches for about 3-4 minutes until soft but not browned.
- Remove and drain on paper towels. Let cool for 10 minutes.
- Increase oil temperature to 375°F (190°C).
- Fry the potatoes again in batches until golden and crispy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Drain on paper towels, immediately season with salt, paprika, and garlic powder.
- Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
